When I picked up a camera for the first time nearly two years ago in hopes of capturing better pictures of my daughter, I had no idea it would turn into my full blown passion and career. In one year I have grown my passion into something I am beyond proud of and something that gives me a reason to get out of bed every morning with a smile on my face. Family photography is a piece of what I do that holds one of the most special places in my heart. The memories I make with my clients are some that I can't quite put into words. My style is relaxed with the intention of capturing the authentic, raw, and true to life moments between individuals. When Tori and Chris got out of their car, I did a huge secret happy dance inside. They were dressed their best and little Solomon was nothing but smiles when they pulled him from the carseat! Right then and there I just knew this session would be amazing.
The skies cleared just in time for this incredible Pacific Northwest family session!
Working as a professional wedding and portrait photographer in the Seattle and surrounding areas like Olympia (where we shot this session!) can be tricky with weather. Tori and Chris were extremely flexible with me with their session and shuffling due to bad weather. I am happy to say that it was worth the wait. I drove up to Olympia in the rain, got to our spot and the clouds just cleared. We had about an hour of perfect sunny weather followed by rain when I got back in my car. It's like it was just meant to be! I have a long wish list and one of those is to have my own studio someday so I can photograph clients when the weather is just too bad out but I can't deny my love affair with outdoor Pacific Northwest sessions! The Yocom family could not have selected a better wardrobe to play on the Christmas theme. It was perfection. Sometimes bold colors scare me a bit behind the camera, but they rocked it! There are tasteful ways to wear bold colors for pictures and they nailed it. Solomon was an absolute treat to photograph and he even let me snuggle and hold him while I took some shots of his parents one on one! Tori and my Husband know each other from their younger years! It's been such a treat moving back to the Pacific Northwest and not only meeting some of his old friends, but getting to create memories they will treasure for generations to come. This session was no exception. Yocom family, from the bottom of my heart thank you for being so amazing to work with and I hope to have the opportunity to photograph you again in the future! Enjoy these images, friends.
I hope you all love these images as much as I do! It's an honor and privilege to get to do this as my job because it never feels like work. I've heard that phrase, "Find something you love." I know I've found that with photography and look forward to all the adventures ahead on this wild ride.
